12 June 2026, SYDNEY– Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Antonio A. Morales joined members of the Filipino community at the 2026 Philippine National Day Ball organized by the Philippine Community Council of New South Wales (PCCNSW), led by its President, Ms. Grace Liston, at Doltone House, Bossley Park, in celebration of the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence. This year’s commemoration also formed part of the observance of the 80th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Australia.
In his remarks, Ambassador Morales reflected on this year’s Independence Day theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”, emphasizing the importance of democratic institutions and civic participation in shaping the nation’s future. He encouraged eligible Filipinos overseas to register and participate in overseas voting, describing democratic participation as one of the most meaningful ways Filipinos abroad can contribute to nation-building.
The Ambassador also highlighted the growing Philippines–Australia Strategic Partnership as both countries commemorate 80 years of diplomatic relations. He underscored expanding cooperation in a wide range of areas including defense, maritime security, and skills development. He likewise recognized the Filipino-Australian community as an important pillar of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
The Philippine National Day Ball brought together Filipino community leaders, organizations, and friends of the Philippines from across New South Wales. Distinguished guests included The Honourable Mark Coure MP, Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, and representatives of local government in Western Sydney. The evening program featured cultural performances, a fashion presentation of Philippine barong, and the traditional Rigodon de Honor. END
