16 September 2026, HOBART – Ambassador Antonio Morales met with ACEN Australia Managing Director David Pollington to discuss opportunities to support its continued expansion in Australia to strengthen economic cooperation under the Strategic Partnership of the Philippines and Australia.

Renewable energy and the green transition are key sectors of focus, with Philippine companies such as ACEN contributing to Australia’s renewable energy sector. ACEN Australia, wholly owned by Philippine-listed ACEN Corporation of the Ayala Group, is headquartered in Hobart and has more than 1 GW of renewable energy capacity in operation or construction, with a development pipeline of more than 13 GW across solar, wind, battery storage and pumped hydro.

Tasmania is a significant part of ACEN Australia’s portfolio, with the company progressing two major wind projects with a combined proposed capacity of around 2.1 GW. These investments demonstrate the potential for Philippine companies to participate in Australia’s strategic industries.

Ambassador Morales and Mr. Pollington exchanged views on the progress of ACEN Australia’s projects in Tasmania and its broader development pipeline, as well as approaches to engaging with First Nations communities in renewable energy development.

The engagement forms part of efforts to translate the Philippines-Australia Strategic Partnership into stronger commercial connections and greater opportunities for businesses in both countries. - END
