28 May 2026 – The Embassy of the Philippines in Canberra announces the extension of the application period for the submission of applications and expressions of interest for the position of Philippine Honorary Consul in Darwin, Northern Territory.

The extension aims to encourage wider participation and provide qualified individuals with additional opportunities to contribute to the promotion of Philippine interests and the welfare of the Filipino community in the Northern Territory, while ensuring a broad, competitive, and robust selection process for the position.

The Philippine Honorary Consul shall, among others:
  • Provide consular assistance and services to Filipino nationals;
  • Assist in the promotion of Philippine interests, particularly in increasing Philippine exports, investments and tourism into the Philippines, and in raising awareness on Philippine culture, arts, and advocacies; and
  • Facilitate cooperation and collaboration between the Philippine and Australian governments.
Qualifications for the position include:
  • Must be a resident of Darwin, Northern Territory;
  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to representing the Government and people of the Philippines;
  • Must be willing to fulfil the mandate of the office in promoting and protecting the interests of the Philippines and the welfare of Filipinos;
  • Must possess knowledge of Philippine current affairs;
  • Must have strong links to government and business communities in their jurisdiction, sufficient financial resources, and the ability to provide and maintain adequate and suitable office facilities befitting the representative capacity of the position; and
  • Must not have been convicted of any crime or violation of any law, decree, ordinance, or regulation by any court or tribunal, nor be the subject of any administrative, civil, or criminal proceeding.
  • Applicants may submit an official letter expressing their interest and intent to apply for the position, together with their curriculum vitae, addressed to the Philippine Ambassador to Australia through cbrpe@philembassy.org.au and admincbr@philembassy.org.au no later than 30 June 2026. END
