15 September 2026, HOBART – Ambassador Australia Antonio Morales met with Entura, Hydro Tasmania’s specialist power and water consulting business, to discuss opportunities for cooperation in pumped hydropower, dam safety, water management and renewable energy during his official visit to Tasmania.
Entura provides engineering and advisory services across the lifecycle of power and water infrastructure, including hydropower, pumped hydro, renewable energy and water management.
Ambassador Morales highlighted the Philippines’ goal of increasing renewable energy’s share of the power generation mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040, as well as the need for resilient energy and water infrastructure in the face of climate and extreme weather risks.
The Ambassador expressed interest in Tasmania’s experience in hydropower and pumped-storage development, including opportunities to strengthen Philippine technical capacity in dam safety, asset management, monitoring and emergency preparedness.
Entura has extensive experience in the Philippines, including dam safety and asset assessments for the Pantabangan-Masiway hydropower complex in Nueva Ecija, supporting the continued safe and reliable operation of this important energy and irrigation infrastructure.
Given the Philippines’ archipelagic geography and diverse grid environments, Ambassador Morales also welcomed opportunities to explore pumped hydro, small and medium-scale hydropower, battery storage, microgrids and other energy-storage solutions that can improve reliability and energy security, particularly in remote and island communities. - END
