01 September 2026, DARWIN – Ambassador Morales discussed with Northern Territory Administrator David Connolly the various bilateral issues of importance to both jurisdictions. The Ambassador emphasized the strategic position of Darwin in advancing Australia’s regional connectivity with Southeast Asia and expressed a keen interest in exploring potential collaborative opportunities between the Northern Territory and regional hubs in the Central and Southern Philippines.

While attending the Filipino Australian Association of the Northern Territory (FAANT) Barrio Fiesta last 29 August 2026, the Ambassador engaged in meaningful discussions with Darwin Lord Mayor, the Honourable Peter Styles, along with Northern Territory Members of the Legislative Assembly Ed Smelt. Mr. Smelt serves as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition. Their dialogue emphasized the profound contributions of the Filipino-Australian community to the Northern Territory’s economic and social fabric, highlighting their status as the jurisdiction’s most significant migrant demographic.

The Barrio Fiesta in Darwin, Northern Territory, is a vibrant cultural celebration honoring the Filipino community. The festivities featured a diverse array of traditional activities and artistic displays showcasing Filipino heritage, including spirited cultural presentations by the Northern Territory’s Filipino youth and community organizations. - END
