Philippine Ambassador Ma. Hellen Barber De La Vega and Mr. Ed Husic MP Discuss the Vibrancy of the Filipino Community in Australia, Push for Stronger PH-AU relations

Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega called on Mr. Ed Husic MP, Member for Chifley in New South Wales, on 22 February 2019 at the Parliament House in Canberra. Mr. Husic considers the Filipino community one of the largest and most energetic groups in the electorate of Chifley. Filipinos make up 10% of the total population of the electorate of Chifley.

Ambassador de la Vega expressed appreciation for Mr. Husic’s strong support for the Filipino community and his recognition of the immense contributions of Filipinos to Australia’s multicultural society. The Ambassador shared that the Philippines and Australia will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2021 and hope that Mr. Husic will participate in this celebration as a champion for Filipinos in Australia. Mr. Husic talked about the broad relations of Australia with the Philippines and the countries in ASEAN and expressed interest in doing more with countries in the region.
