Canberra – Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega visited the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources on 15 February 2019 and met with Secretary Daryl Quinlivan. The two officials discussed the status of agricultural trade between the Philippines and Australia and other areas where further trade maybe developed. Australia is the top source of wheat and meslin of the Philippines.

Agriculture cooperation is also a significant element of the bilateral relations. In December 2018, the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) signed a new ten-year agreement with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) to further strengthen capacity building.
