04 MARCH 2026, GOLD COAST - Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Antonio Morales, together with Consul Sheryll Gabutero of the Philippine Consulate in Queensland, met with Filipino community leaders and members in the Gold Coast on 4 March 2026. The gathering provided an opportunity to connect with Filipino-Australian community leaders and acknowledge the dedication, perseverance, and contributions of the Filipino community in Queensland.
In his remarks, Ambassador Morales expressed deep appreciation for the Filipino diaspora. He noted that Filipinos around the world are widely recognized for their diligence, integrity, and compassion and highlighted the many ways members of the community contribute to Australian society.
The Ambassador emphasized that the Filipino presence continues to grow in presence and visibility in Australia, particularly as both countries commemorate the 80th anniversary of Philippines-Australia diplomatic relations this year. He encouraged community members to continue supporting one another and actively engaging in civic and cultural life. He noted that the milestone anniversary offers a meaningful opportunity for the Filipino community to celebrate its heritage with pride and further elevate the profile of the Philippines in Australia.
Consul Gabutero also acknowledged the many Filipino community organizations present and commended their advocacy work on community development. She briefed attendees on the consular services and initiatives of the Philippine Consulate in Queensland, including programs supporting mental health and community welfare.
Queensland is home to the third-largest Filipino migrant community in Australia, with more than 70,000 Filipinos and Australians of Filipino descent living across the state.– END
