05 MARCH 2026, BRISBANE - Philippine Ambassador to Australia, Antonio Morales, welcomed members of the Queensland business community to explore investment opportunities in the Philippines during a business reception organized by the Australia Philippines Business Council. The event brought together representatives from Austrade and companies across key industries including mining, legal services, professional services, and renewable energy.
“The Philippines continues to offer strong opportunities for international partners, supported by a growing economy, a dynamic digital sector, and a young and highly skilled workforce,” Ambassador Morales said.
He noted that the Philippines and Australia celebrate eight decades of close partnership, providing a timely backdrop and impetus to further strengthen economic, educational, and institutional linkages.
Ambassador Morales highlighted the growing trade and investment relationship between the two countries, with more than 250 Australian companies already operating in the Philippines across sectors such as infrastructure, banking, telecommunications, education, and business process outsourcing.
He specifically mentioned the St. Baker Giga Factory in Tarlac, an investment by a Queensland business, is the first ever registered lithium-ion phosphate battery factory in the Philippines, focusing on energy storage solutions, electric vehicle charging, and small EVs for both local and export markets.
“The Philippines is a trusted partner for Australian companies, particularly in services and outsourcing, where our people’s skills and strong culture of service have made our country a preferred destination,” he added.
Ambassador Morales also met with scholars from the Philippines currently pursuing graduate studies at The University of Queensland under the Australia Awards program during the event. – END
