22 July 2025, CANBERRA - Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Antonio Morales joined fellow members of the Diplomatic Corps at the official opening of the 48th Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia on 22 July 2025. The occasion marked the first parliamentary sitting since the Labor Party led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese secured a historic majority in the May 2025 federal election.

As part of the opening events, Ambassador Morales participated in a reception hosted for the Diplomatic Corps, which brought together senior government officials and members of parliament, including Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell, Minister for Defence Industry and Pacific Island Affairs Pat Conroy, Minister for International Development and Multicultural Affairs Anne Aly, and Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Jan Adams.

The Philippine Embassy in Canberra extends its congratulations to the Government and people of Australia on the commencement of the 48th Parliament and reaffirms its commitment to continued bilateral cooperation and engagement under the Strategic Partnership. - END
