ADVISORY ON THE ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS FOR A NEW PHILIPPINE HONORARY CONSULAR OFFICER IN DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY

15 April 2026 - The Embassy of the Philippines in Canberra invites expressions of interest for the position of Philippine Honorary Consul in Darwin, Northern Territory.

The Philippine Honorary Consul shall, among others:

  1. Provide consular assistance and services to Filipino nationals;
  2. Assist in the promotion of Philippine interests in particular in increasing Philippine exports, increasing investments and tourism into the Philippines and in raising awareness on Philippine culture, arts and advocacies;
  3. Facilitate cooperation and collaboration between the Philippine and Australian governments.
Qualifications for the position include:
  1. Must be a resident of Darwin, Northern Territory;
  2. Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to representing the government and people of the Philippines;
  3. Must be willing to fulfil the mandate of the office in promoting and protecting the interests of the Philippines and the welfare of Filipinos;
  4. Must possess knowledge of Philippine current affairs;
  5. Must have strong links to government and business communities in their jurisdiction, sufficient financial resources, and is able to provide and maintain adequate and suitable office befitting the representative capacity of the position; and
  6. Must not have been convicted of any crime or violation of any law, decree, ordinance or regulation by any court or tribunal nor must not be the subject of an administrative, civil or criminal proceeding.
Applicants may submit an official letter with their curriculum vitae attached, addressed to the Philippine Ambassador to Australia, expressing their interest and intent to apply for the position of Philippine Honorary Consular Officer in Darwin, Northern Territory to cbrpe@philembassy.org.au and admincbr@philembassy.org.au no later than 15 May 2026. -END-
