07 February 2022 – Archbishop Christopher Prowse of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn led the celebration of the feast of Sto. Niño (Holy Child) in Canberra on 06 February 2022.

Her Excellency Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Philippine Ambassador to Australia, joined the Filipino community in celebrating the feast of Sto. Niño at the Cathedral of St. Christopher through a holy mass that was co-celebrated with Filipino priest, Fr. Anthony Riosa. The Philippine Cultural Society (PCS) performed the Sinulog dance in honor of Sto. Niño and to observe the world-renowned Sinulog Festival held annually in Cebu City in the Philippines to commemorate the ancestors’ acceptance of Christianity.

In his homily, the Archbishop lauded the efforts of the Filipino community in strengthening Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese and thanked them for their service. -- END
