29 July 2025, CANBERRA - Philippine Ambassador to Australia, H.E. Antonio A. Morales welcomed new Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Ms. Myat Thuzar Than at the Philippine Embassy on 29 July 2025.

Ms. Myat Thuzar Than was Deputy Director-General of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar prior to her posting in Canberra. She also served in various capacities in Myanmar missions in Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong.

During the meeting, Ms. Myat Thuzar Than expressed appreciation for the Philippine’s assistance in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck Myanmar in March 2025.

Ambassador Morales reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to supporting Myanmar in advancing peace, stability, and prosperity through inclusive dialogue and cooperation. He also highlighted the Philippines’ upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026. The Philippines and Myanmar will also celebrate 70 years of bilateral relations in 2026. - END
