CANBERRA, Australia (05 August 2019) – Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega welcomes the new Consul General assigned in the Embassy of the Philippines in Canberra. Consul General Aian Caringal arrived in Canberra on 18 July 2019 after serving as Director at the Office of ASEAN Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila. As Director for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Division at the DFA in Manila, Consul General Caringal helped shepherd Philippine initiatives and activities during the Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN in 2017, including the finalization of the ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers and the Grand Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN. Consul General Caringal also served in the Philippine Embassy in Seoul from 2009 to 2015 and in the Office of ASEAN Affairs of the DFA during the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2006-2007. -- END
