PH EMBASSY CELEBRATES PHILIPPINE HERITAGE MONTH WITH FILIPINO COMMUNITY

31 May 2023, CANBERRA – Consul General Aian Caringal joined the Philippine – Australian Association of the ACT and the Monaro Region (PAA)and the Filipino community in Canberra in the annual Philippine Heritage Month celebration held in Griffith Hall on 28 May 2023.

The celebration organized by the PAA featured a stage poetry play entitled “Pride and Protest: Philippine Poetry through the Years” which highlighted the profound influence of poems, songs, and dances from different generations on Philippine history. The play demonstrated the unwavering nationalism and love of country that resonates among Filipinos.

The script was written by award-winning writer and performer Dr. Merlinda Bobis and Ms. Marlene Tucker, and directed by Dr. Bobis and Ms. Maria “Noonee” Doronilla.

Philippine Heritage Month is celebrated every month of May by virtue of Presidential Proclamation no. 439 series of 2003. -END-
