More than 380 Filipinos in Queensland Register for Overseas Absentee Voting

19 July 2021 – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra conducted a field registration for overseas absentee voting in Brisbane, Queensland on 12-16 July 2021.

Eligibility to register as an overseas voter is based on Republic Act No. 9189 as amended by Republic Act No. 10590 which states that all citizens of the Philippines abroad, who are not disqualified by law, at least eighteen (18) years of age on May 9, 2022, and who are registered overseas voters, may vote for President, Vice President, Senators and Party-List Representatives.

More than 380 Filipinos in Queensland registered for overseas absentee voting during the five-day field registration in Brisbane.

Overseas voting registration is conducted daily at the Philippine Embassy in Canberra and the Philippine Consulates General in Sydney and Melbourne, except during lockdowns and declared holidays, until the closing of overseas voting registration on 30 September 2021.
