Filipino Community in Canberra Celebrates Sinulog Festival

CANBERRA, Australia – The Philippine Cultural Society (PCS) led the celebration of the Annual Feast of Seňor Santo Niňo in Australia’s Capital City on 20 January 2019. A mass in honor of this festival was celebrated by Fr. Loi Viovicente at St. Monica’s Church in Evatt, followed by a cultural program in Hall Pavilion.

H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Philippine Ambassador to Australia, commended the PCS for its programs and activities to promote Philippine cultural tradition and heritage. She recalled the significance of Sinulog as a solemn procession of petition and thanksgiving for blessings as we start a new year.

Filipinos in Australia join the rest of our kababayans all over the world in celebrating the Sinulog festival which has historically been an important part of Filipino Catholic faith.
