Filipino-Australian students of the learning Filipino together during the Lyons Early Childhood School Harmony Day

/ news

The Filipino-Australian students of the Learning Filipino Together (LFT), the Filipino Language School of Canberra, participated in the Harmony day celebration at the Lyons Early Childhood School on 19 March 2014.

With their full smile, the children were able to showcase various Filipino traditional costumes while singing the songs "Tiktilaok" (Cock Crow) and "Sampung mga Daliri"(The Ten Fingers) as guided by their teacher, Ms. Rachelle Velasquez.

They were well received and applauded by the students at Lyons Early Childhood School, parents and other members of the audience for their performance. The Lyons School Coordinator, Ms. Hannah Freyne, thanked the Filipino Language School of Canberra for supporting the Harmony Day Celebration.

Performances of the Learning Filipino Together in various schools’ multicultural events in Canberra help promote the Filipino language. Some audience approached the group after their performance and enquired about the Language School.

LFT is headed by Ms. Irene Santos as President and Ms. Sheila Flores as the School Principal.
