27 March 2026, CANBERRA - Philippine Ambassador Antonio Morales met with the Australian National University Filipino Association (ANUFA) Executive Committee Members led by Abigayle Balanag-Dayusan to discuss initiatives supporting the welfare and well-being of Filipino students in Canberra, as well as opportunities to strengthen collaboration in promoting Filipino culture and heritage in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Philippines-Australia relations this year.

Ambassador Morales underscored the commitment of the Philippine Embassy and Consulates in Australia to ensure that Filipino international students in Australia are supported including through mental health and consular support. He also reaffirmed the Embassy’s support for student-led initiatives that celebrate Filipino culture and cross-cultural understanding.

The ANU Filipino Association shared its ongoing efforts to foster vibrant community engagement among Filipino students through various social and cultural initiatives.

The meeting explored avenues for collaboration on future activities, including cultural showcases and community outreach programs aimed at promoting Filipino identity and heritage within the broader university environment.

There are more than 34,000 Filipino international students in Australia, making the Philippines among the top five source countries of international students in Australia. - END
