15 September 2026, HOBART – Ambassador Antonio Morales and Consul General Jesus Gary Domingo met with leaders of the Filipino community during their official visit to Tasmania.
The Filipino community in Tasmania is vibrant and growing, with more than 2,400 residents born in the Philippines recorded in the 2021 Census. Filipinos make important contributions across the Tasmanian workforce, including in aged care, hospitals, accommodation, building and cleaning services, and other social assistance sectors.
The community leaders shared their initiatives that help Filipino-Tasmanians and new arrivals settle and connect with local services. Ambassador Morales and Consul General Domingo expressed their appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the Philippines-Australia Community of Tasmania (PACT) in bringing Filipinos together and promoting Filipino culture, language and traditions, as well as the Philippine Aid Relief from Tasmania Foundation (PART) in supporting relief efforts in the Philippines.
From Philippine Independence Day celebrations and Paskuhan Fiesta to community and parish activities, Filipino-Tasmanians continue to celebrate their heritage and enrich Tasmania’s multicultural community. - END
