Welcome to the Official Website of the
Philippine Embassy in Australia
In the Philippines,
we say Mabuhay to greet someone, to wish good health and long life, to
inspire and encourage, or simply to cheer.
It is with distinct
pleasure that I wish my fellow Filipinos in Australia Mabuhay! As one of
the largest migrant groups in Australia,
Filipino-Australians or FilOz as they fondly call themselves, are our
partners in promoting friendly relations between the Philippines and Australia. I offer my hands to
you as your Ambassador, kababayan (fellow countryman) and a friend. I look
forward to interacting with you in your community affairs and on anything
that the Philippine Government could assist you.
I also offer Mabuhay
to the Australian Government and the Australian people as we continue to
build bridges of friendship to strengthen our long and cordial friendly
relations.
I come to Australia at a very opportune time for the Philippines and Australia celebrating this year
as the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic ties in
1946. Our chronicles tell us, however, that our peoples have interacted in
many ways centuries before that.
For this reason, I
say again Mabuhay!
